There must have been one heck of a pegboard somewhere keeping track of all these different storylines and how they would all work together in the endgame because here we are, five groups of characters and many volumes later, everything pieces together like the most complicated jigsaw puzzle. While volume 20 is several more pages than the rest of the series, it still didn’t feel like enough time to get everything out and fully explore the very final stage of the story. Emma’s “price” she paid for the new Promise was probably the most rushed bit of the entire series, so it left a little bit of a dissatisfied feeling at the very end. However, fans who have watched the anime who are extremely dissatisfied with that ending might find a lot of comfort about how Shirai wrapped this up for our beloved characters.
