Penelope is invited to have lunch with her whole family, which turns into another chance for the servants to slight her with childish utensils. She storms away, leaving her father to discover the indignity. To make up for it, he has the butler clear out the attic where Penelope liked to sit as a child. Even this turns problematic as she has a terse encounter there with Reynold that reveals much about why he loathes Penelope. Later, Penelope decides to take Eckles on an outing and outfit him more as a proper knight. The affection meter for Eckles is steadily increasing, but he also continues to prove how dangerous he can be. Prince Callisto hosts yearly Hunting Celebration where Penelope made such a scene last year as to be banned. The prince lifted her punishment based on their last encounter, but he's still at a very deadly level for Penelope!

Penelope is determined to meet the last two love interests in the game to see if either of them can be her actual way out, rather than relying on the two brothers who seem to hate her, or the crazy prince. She must sneak out to rescue Eckles from a slave auction, but she manages to run into both her brothers on the way out. Both accompany her to the festival, but a strange blur of commotion at the festival separates them all, which is advantageous for Penelope, who uses it to attend the slave auction and bid on Eckles, but this plan turns out to not be as fool proof as she thought - Eckles is actually extremely dangerous and a bit unhinged, not quite the docile young knight she remembers from the game.

Our heroine is stuck in a terrible Cinderella-style nightmare, both in real life and as she’s sucked into a popular game! After her mother passes away, her wealthy father reluctantly brings her into his home where her two half brothers treat her horribly. She finally manages to move away by getting into a prestigious university, where she gets addicted to a fantasy romance sim. After defeating the game on the normal mode, she decides to attempt on the hard mode, which is actually playing from the “villainess’s” perspective. She realizes she has much in common with Penelope, the villain, and yet she is still thwarted and killed quickly. Frustrated, she falls asleep, and, upon waking, finds herself in the role of Penelope in the game! Now, she must use her knowledge of the game world and what she's learned from her past to navigate five male characters and convince them not to kill her for the slightest misstep. There's no reset button this time! |
