Eniale and Dewiel are an angel and demon, respectively, who are often at odds with each other on borrowing one another’s makeup without asking, or gathering souls for their employers. In one of their apocalyptic fights, they find a baby and search for its mother using means that send humanity into a panic. After destroying their clothes in another fight, the two travel to Paris to replenish their wardrobe, and an exorcist discerns and chases after Dewi relentlessly. A little girl summons both the angel and demon to help her sick mother recover, and it’s a competition to see who can win the little girl over to “their side.” After Eni pisses her friend off completely, Dewi “helps” Eni build the “perfect” hot springs and vows to drain Eni’s seemingly endless supply of money.
Vol 1: Shadows, illustrated by Scott Hampton, P. Craig Russell, Walter Simonson, Coleen Doran, and Glenn Fabry
When we first meet Shadow, he is at the end of a three year prison sentence for armed robbery. He's just about to get out when his wife is killed in a car accident, along with his best friend, who was going to give Shadow a job when he got out. Lifeless, penniless, and jobless, Shadow is reluctantly recruited by Mr. Wednesday, a peculiar man with one eye and a penchant for some supernatural business. Mr. Wednesday and Shadow encounter several larger-than-life beings who claim to be from various pantheons from around the world, brought to America by immigrants for centuries. Shadow is abducted a few times by some other powerful beings working against Mr. Wednesday, but he always manages to escape or be set free with only a few bruises. After one of these occasions, Shadow comes to work at a mortuary in Cairo, Illinois, for Mr. Ibis and Mr. Jacquel. This volume concludes just as Shadow and Mr. Wednesday reconnect, and the real work is about to begin.
Hideki sets up Chi with a spot at his old job where he used to help sell cakes and other baked goods. This is much better than the sketchy job she had before in volume one. If that isn't creepy enough, three more volumes of the picture book series Chi likes is published, and the books seem to be revealing more and more about Chi’s life and purpose. Hideki tries to figure out just what the books are trying to tell him about Chi, but he doesn't figure it out in time before something terrible happens to Chi and he must enlist the help of his friend Minoru to save her.

Ruri has had a pretty hard life. Her blonde hair and blue eyes have brought her lots of attention, especially from an annoying girl named Asahi. Everyone LOVES Asahi, and Ruri always gets in trouble for Asahi’s whims. Ruri is determined to go to college and leave Asahi firmly behind her, when it turns out Asahi has gotten into a neighboring college and rented an apartment in Ruri’s building! One day, the two ladies and a few other “friends” are walking to school, and they get pulled into another world. Ruri is incensed - she can’t even get kidnapped away from Asahi! Everyone thinks Asahi is the prophesied Priestess Princess, and it’s more of the same in this new world - up until they throw Ruri out into the forest for some sort of “treason” against Asahi. Ruri picks her way along the forest until she happens upon the hut of Chelsie, an “old hag” who teaches Ruri more about this world. Ruri has much to learn, but she also wants revenge on those who treated her poorly.

In a dystopian future, the world has become a desolate wasteland full of biker gangs jockeying for land, power, and resources (think Mad Max). Kenshiro is a warrior, the sole suriving practitioner of the Hokuto Shinken (Big Dipper God Fist), an ancient martial art that relies on power over a body's meridian points, giving him considerable strength over his enemies. Kenshiro has become determined to fight against the gangs that threaten peaceful villages. Along the way, he gains a travel companion, a young thief named Bat, and later, a little orphaned girl named Rin. Kenshiro comes up against several overly strong individuals, including his old friend Shin, a practitioner of the Nanto Koshū Ken (South Dipper Lone Eagle Fist) martial art. The men have become enemies because of their mutual love of the same girl, Yuria, and Shin's actions in getting Yuria to love him instead of Kenshiro.
This volume is all the side-stories you didn't know you needed from the time Satoru is in his coma. Hinazaki continuously visits Satoru in the hosipital and keeps his mom company until Sachiko decides to move Satoru away from the area. Kenya is determined to figure out who attacked Satoru, but his lawyer father, who has the case, tells Kenya he needs to acquire the skills first, so Kenya gets great grades and goes to school to become a lawyer. We also see when Kenya meets up with Sawada-sensei to solve the murder-mystery. Lastly, we see Airi-chan's life since Satoru wasn't in it this time, and the end of volume five links up with the end of volume four to explain how all the characters come together again.

Hori is a popular girl in school who does well and always has her hair and makeup done pretily. Miyamura is solitary type, sometimes assumed to be a hardcore anime fan, who gets great grades but doesn't really have many friends. When a tattooed, pierced young man shows up at Hori's home while she's in her house clothes with no makeup, she has no idea she's actually chatting with her classmate Miyamura! Both bond over their "other" sides that they don't want anyone at school to see, but they can be completely at ease with each other outside of school. Miyamura starts to help babysit her younger brother while Hori takes care of the house for her busy parents, and she becomes protective of their time, and honesty, with each other.
The Ezo Ag Festival is finally here, but Hachiken is in the hospital recovering from exhaustion. Thankfully, the rest of his classmates are able to get the Festival off without a hitch thanks to all the preparation work he did, and even Hachiken's brother comes by to pitch in in his brother's absence. We finally also met Hachiken's parents, and it is abundantly apparent why Hachiken decided to go to school so far away from them. After he is released from the hospital, his friends try to fill him in on all the Festival details without making him sad that he missed it all. Later, Hachiken and Mikage go on their date that he promised her, but several classmates had the same idea for a location, and their date becomes less exclusive.
