This volume opens up on several young children playing, pretending to be soldiers in the war effort. One in particular never has a toy gun like the rest because his father disapproves of their make believe. Then, the war breaks out between the East and the West. The kids become embroiled in the ear for real, and one of the children grows up to become Twilight. In present times, Yor goes out to find cookies for Anya and ends up befriending Mrs. Desmond, the wife of Twilight’s target!

Luffy and crew escape Roguetown as a crazy storm hits the island. Nami reads the charts for entering the Grand Line, and she learns this terrible storm is part of their chance to sail onto the Grand Line. The Merry Go sustains a bit of damage, but they finally manage to make it onto the fiercest sea of the them all. Once there, the ship is swallowed by a moaning whale, and they meet a wise sea doctor who has been taking care of this abandoned creature. The sad whale has been ramming his nose on a wall, hoping to escape, while two secretive folks have been trying to capture the creature to take its meat back to their starving village. From the old man, Nami learns her years of navigating will be mostly useless on the Grand Line as she must learn to use a Log Pose to survive the turbulent seas.

After the escape from last volume. Nest professors question Junhyeong about Breeder's operation, and find out all about the organization known as Pet Shop. One of the secret base locations is on a remote island called Black Rock, so the professors decide to hold a tournament among the students to determine who will go on this away mission. Once the team is decided, the students and a professor travel to Black Rock as undercover tourists to see if they can establish the location of the base. ![]()

On one mission, the apprentices and their master encounter a fearsome creature of black magic that they cannot overcome. Konosuke wakes covered in bandages and can’t remember a thing. As he slowly recovers, he realizes he had a job to report to in a few days, so he focused on recovering from whatever made him so injured. His memory is still very hazy, but this has happened before. He slightly remembers two other people, but can’t make anything more out. Meanwhile, Tsuki and her captors are on their way to their destination and reveal the memory wipe on Konosuke has been successful. In another part of Edo, a young blind ichiko (fortune teller) has arrived. Aki looks to set up shop while she tracks down the descendants of the woman who saved her mother. Her quest leads her to the doorstep of Konosuke just as he recovers his memories and becomes distraught at Tsuki’s disappearance, and Aki finds herself entangled in Konosuke’s quest.

Master Rei and Mira collect rainwater in a spare room, and through magic, they are able to swim in the bucket and delve into the water’s memories. Mira is able to see the town without any of the people, and she expresses a desire to come to the real town one day. This makes Master Rei hopeful. Later, Capri visits again and, disguised as Mr. Cappy, goes on an adventure with Mira inside the house. The two bond over a love of an author, and Capri discovers later that the author will be hosted for a book signing in town. With the help of Master Rei and Mr. Cappy, Mira attempts to come closer to the village and contain her anxieties so that she can attend the signing. At the end, Master Rei is informed of a new young girl in the area who needs his attention and is struggling with a similar affliction to Mira.

The group finally make it back to the giant room where they were killed and find most of their gear under the snow and not fully eaten by dungeon cleaners. They also find a huge Ice Golem, and Izutsumi proves invaluable in the fight! Back on the surface, Shuro and Kabru find the elves are already with the Lord of the Island, and Kabru rushes in to give his report to them all. He reveals that his village was destroyed when the elves rushed in to a dungeon there, and urges them all to evacuate the upper levels of the dungeon and seal it off, rather than feed it with more troops. On Level 6, Laios finally acknowledges a ghost he’s been seeing since his mana sickness, and the spirit takes them all to a beautiful village somewhere inside the dungeon, where they learn of Sissel, the Lunatic Magician. Once back in Level 6, they’re attacked by a Griffin and finally get to learn the tragic backstory of Senshi.

Takada is a 5th grade transfer student, and Nishimura is a bit of a gloomy girl that everyone else calls "The Grim Reaper." Takada is determined to figure how what makes her so special to get such a cool nickname, and what he finds is an awesome friend and someone who makes him happy to be around. Other classmates try to make fun of Takada for being around Nishimura, but Takada's carefree attitude turns all their jabs around and makes everything backfire. Nishimura finds herself with a friend at last, but can't help feeling like her first friend is a little clueless to all the bullying going around. Takada likens several bully tactics to video game or RPG storylines, and the two also find out that they could have been childhood neighbors had things gone differently.
