Cover of My Hero Academia vol 7 by Kohei Horikoshi
Ida, Midoriya, and Todoroki continue to battle the Hero Killer Stain.  Several actual heroes, including the mentors of all three students, come to help, but the students manage to subdue the Hero Killer by working together.  Afterwards, All Might gives Midoriya some information about the origins of One for All, and clues him in to what might be waiting for him in his future.  He doesn't tell Midoriya the most grim news, however.  Then, the students prepare for their final exams, which include a test and a practical exam.  The teachers decide that the students require more real-life scenarios than previous years, so they remove the robot combatants and pit two students up against each teacher! Of course, Bakugo and Midoriya are teamed up.  Bakugo must learn to work with Midoriya despite his deep-seeded hatred.

It's apparent, from the storyline and the author's notes, that Hero Killer Stain will have a lasting impact on this story, and his presence has shifted the entire narrative into a more serious, darker tone. There are parts of this volume that are really confusing, mainly the little vignettes of the other students - like when Bakugo his hair styled/cut, with some of the random comments other students make.  The final exam seems like an insurmountable task if you choose not to run away.  How can two students hope to defeat a teacher?  We'll find out in the next volume, as this one, of course, ends on a cliffhanger in the middle of the action!
