Yukio, Shura, and Rin head off to investigate the robbery of the Deep Keep, where exorcist were keeping the left eye of the Impure King, a demon who brought poisonous gas and death to Japan in the 1800s. Yukio goes off with another team to track down the thief, and Rin, Shura, and the classmates travel to Kyoto to help the branch office keep the right eye secure. Several of the classmates are from Kyoto, so we get a lot more insight into the backgrounds of Bon, Shima, and Konekomaru.
Bon is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters, in part because of the complexity he possesses that isn’t yet present in the rest of the characters. His family is very complicated, and we are plopped right into the middle of family politics in this volume. I’m also still waiting for the shoe to drop between Bon and Rin. There was a mild explosion between them in this volume but I’m sure more will come.
