One day, as Hinata walks by a free kitty in a box, he decides to adopt it and names it Kyuu-chan. Kyuu-chan turns out to be adorable and makes Hinata's life more interesting! Kyuu-chan loves playing with toys, but more than that, Kyuu-chan loves spending time with Hinata, including curling up inside his scarf. Like most cats owners can attest, Kyuu-chan also loves the box more than the toys that come in it. Kyuu-chan also loves snacks and getting his fur on the bottom of Hinata's pant legs. The two are always doing things for each other, including Kyuu-chan traversing half the city and the subway to bring Hinata his forgotten lunch!
I literally laughed out loud on the fourth comic, so I knew this was going to be good. Some of this addresses normal life with a cat, like The Evil Secret Society of Cats, but because Kyuu-Chan is a wonder cat, it was a little more like living with Pen-Chan in Penguin & House. I also appreciated that each yonkoma comic was self-contained but also built on an overall story. These comics were originally published one at a time, but I have a sneaky feeling that Nitori-san wanted repeat viewership and/or thought about how these would read if ever bound all together. This is a very wholesome comic that will appeal to adults and kids, and especially to cat-lovers.
The drawing style in this comic is similar to the cutesy style in Evil Secret Society, where characters aren't drawn with a lot of detail, but the focus instead is on making them adorable. Thanks for the review, rating and suitability level. I have been really confused as to why the publisher has the book rated 10+. I wonder if the content gets more mature as the series go on. I have only read the first in the series.

Hi Ashanta, thanks for the comment. I've often wondered why myself, but sometimes publishers rate things higher if the main characters are adults, which is true in this case, or if they have alcoholic drinks/go out for drinks with coworkers, etc. I've also only read the first volume, so I, too, wonder if something happens later in the series. It could also be that Seven Seas doesn't have something in between All Ages and Teen - there's no category for those upper-elementary readers.
