Benio and Rokuro are forced to move in together in the hopes that they will become eventual parents of the most powerful exorcist ever. While they figure out their living situation, Benio finally tracks down the kegare she's been searching for - the kegare who killed her parents. Rokuro's plan to make dinner is interrupted by Benio's failure to come home, so he goes out searching for her, and finds her within an inch of her life! After rescuing her from Magano and giving her the meal he's prepared, they re-enter and face the kegare together, embracing their twin powers. Later, Mayura tells Benio of the Hinatsuki Tragedy, and we learn Benio and Rokuro's pasts are bound in tragedy.
This series, so far, does a great job in mixing seriousness with humor. We learn the tragedy of Benio's parents, then in swoops Rokuro with, "Your dinner's getting cold!" as a reasonable explanation for saving her. While at school, Rokuro and Benio constantly have to field questions about their relationship, and Mayura is a source of hilarity with her silliness and overly large breasts. The cliffhanger of this volume is brutal, however, so have volume three ready to go.
The scenes are wonderfully illustrated with a heavy emphasis on darker shading when the two are in Magano, while scenes at school are all light for contrast. There is some light boob humor, and violence with some blood, but no gore. VIZ rates this title for teen, which is an appropriate rating.
