Inuyasha - rumiko takahashi
Here is a classic Isekai - a subgenre involving the main character being transported to another world. The manga originally ran from 1996-2008, and is now published in an Omnibus format (3 volumes in 1 book) from VIZ Media.
In this series, Kagome, our protagonist, falls down a well at her family's shrine and finds herself in the Sengoku period of Japan. An evil monster recognizes that Kagome carries the sacred Shikon Jewel inside her, and in the ensuing battle, Kagome inadvertently shatters the Jewel, and its pieces scatter all over Japan. Kagome then meets the warrior InuYasha, and the two travel across the country searching for the pieces of the Jewel to recover it before the evil Naraku.
As with many travel stories, they meet new friends and their party grows and dwindles depending on the adventure. This story has appeal to all types of readers who enjoy Adventure Fiction where characters constantly find themselves in trouble they must escape. There are some adult themes and partial nudity throughout the series.
Recommended for collections where readers enjoy Adventure Fiction.
