Melphiera and the "Blood Mad Duke," Aristide get to know each other better over a slain Royal Moodle that has been broken down for its valuable fleece and expertly butchered. Melphiera then begins to prepare it for human consumption, and all the knights insist on trying it first to avoid the noble couple any discomfort later. This makes His Grace very impatient, but eventually Melphiera declares taste testing over, and the two enjoy a delicious meal of monster meat. Later, the Duke and Melphiera's father arrange the particulars of their marriage and joining their noble houses, and Melphiera packs up to move immediately so as to not be stuck in Marchalrayd during the harsh winter months. Everything is moving very quickly, and she wonders why the Duke would want to marry her!
Natsuo is tall, naturally athletic, and gifted in whatever she tries. As a first year high school student, she starts with volleyball, where she earned a spot away from a team senpai. One day during club recruitment, an overly positive first year tries to recruit Natsuo for their new mixed martial arts club. Having a karate background and knowing the school's prowess in their nationally ranked karate club, Natsuo thinks the MMA club is doomed before it begins, but something about the beaming pride of the club's members annoys her enough to check out one practice in the hopes that she can find something physically challenging to suck at for a while.
Two dog owners meet while out on a walk, and they cannot be more polar opposites with their dogs and some of their approaches to life. Chiharu-san is the owner of Tsuba-chan, a Rottweiler who has a calm disposition. Chiharu is a smaller woman but has incredible strength and a commanding control over Tsuba's training. On the other hand, there's Kiyotaka-san, a strong but slightly timid owner of Monjuro, a hyper and tiny Pomeranian a fraction of the size of Tsuba. Chiharu and Kiyotaka continuously run into each other on walks and through their respective jobs. This volume finishes out with Chiharu reminiscing about how she adopted Tsuba.
