The day we didn't think would come is finally here. Ray sets fire to Grace Field House, forcing the evacuation of all the children. Emma has decided that escaping with all the children would be far too difficult, but she has made Ray, Don, and Gilda promise that they will come back for the babies once they figure out what they're dealing with. With tracking devices disabled, they scale the wall and take their first glimpse of the world outside their "safe" home. The kids ingeniously figure out sliding over the chasm with coat hangers and rope. But, the alarm is quickly sounded, and the kids have to worry about figuring out this outside world bent on destroying them.

Iku learns to work in the Reservations room, securing books from other branches and finding titles in the Stacks to send to other branches. The Interim Head librarian acts suspicious with Iku's roommate, Asako, asking for specific titles and then squirreling them away in his office. Iku’s squadmate, Tezuka, asks her out even though he has continuously made her feel like he hates her, but this makes Iku confirm her feelings for Dojo. The MBC conducts a raid on the Library, seeking to take out titles they disapprove of. It's Iku's first MBC raid while she's is on duty, she and Asako figured out that the MBC was going after all the books in the head librarian's office.

Genos, as a Class S hero, gets called away to save City Z from a giant meteor, but he finds another Class S hero, Silver Fang, who says it’s too late and there is no way to stop it. Genos decides to try out a new super-powered weapon against it, but he is interrupted by Metal Knight, another hero trying a new weapon. Metal Knight's rockets are not enough to blast away the meteor. Genos tries his special weapon, and it is also not enough. Saitama comes and explodes the meteor with one punch, of course, but sends smaller meteors crashing down all over the city. The citizens are outraged and blame Saitama for destroying their town, and none are thankful to at least have their lives.
This volume is written in more short chapters, but, unlike volume two, all of them basically go together one after the other. After Najimi, Komi, and Tadano study a bit in the library for their final exams, it’s summer vacation! Najimi invites the gang to go swimming at the city pool, and it turns out “gang” is much bigger than Komi thought. Nevertheless, she has a lot of fun until she scrapes her knee and has to sit out. But, ever conscientious Najimi buys water guns so they can play outside the pool and still include Komi. Next, Najimi invites everyone to a Summer Festival, and most agree Komi is still adorable in her yukata (summer kimono).

The ship out date for one of the main 3 is soon, so the escape window is closing. With final preparations being made, Mom reveals she's known their plan all along, and breaks Emma's leg to prevent her from escaping. It has been Emma's wish that all of them escape together, even the littlest children, so without her, the plan falls apart and is postponed. Norman climbs the perimeter wall to discover there's a sheer cliff drop on the other side, complicating their escape plan further. Then the ship-out date they've been dreading comes.
Somo helps at his family restaurant. When his dad decides to go cook overseas, he sends Somo to the elite Totsuki Culinary Institute. Somo goes for the transfer exam where he meets Erina, the heiress to the Institute and the owner of the Divine Palette. While the rest of the transfer students high-tailed out of the exam at the intimidating sight of her, Somo rose to the challenge and cooked a dish featuring eggs. Erina secretly loved it but failed Somo out of pride. So, imagine her surprise when he showed up at the entrance ceremony later, having secured a passing grade after all.
The class is about to practice hostage rescue at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint (USJ), but they’re interrupted by a group of villains looking to kill All Might. Several different groups of students get warped across the USJ while the two teachers, Eraserhead and Thirteen, try to hold the villains off. Deku is transported with Tsuyu and Mineta, and they work together outsmart the villains that beset them. Eraserhead is neutralized and Thirteen is caught between two of his own black holes. Class President Ida uses his race-car-engine legs to run back to school and get help. Kacchan and his partner neutralize their bad guys as well only to be met with the strongest of all the villains yet.

Set in 1946, the Lee family moves into a nice neighborhood of Metropolis from the city’s Chinatown. The son, Tommy, quickly joins the neighborhood baseball team. The presence of the Lees and Tommy's baseball spot sparks involvement from a local chapter of the Klan of the Fiery Cross. The Klan first demonstrates on the lawn of their home, then proceeds to target the Lee children, Tommy and Roberta (their Americanized names). Superman ends up saving the the children several times over. Roberta first notices that Superman may be holding back, and has other powers he's not using. Superman has to come to terms with himself as an immigrant and embrace some of the abilities he has suppressed his whole life in fear of social ostracization.

Emma, Ray, and Norman decide to bring a few more children into the "know" and have them help gather supplies and make preparations. To that end, Gilda and Don are recruited, although they at first don't quite believe what the three are telling them. Sister Krone figures out what the children are up to, but offers to help, because she wants to unseat Isabella and take over as Mom. Through this partnership, the kids find out that each of them has been fitted with a tracking device, and both adults have devices that will locate them anywhere on the grounds. But Mom always seems to be one step ahead of all of them, and has Sister Krone transferred away.
Osamu meets up with a young girl named Chika, who is the younger sister of one of Osamu's friends, previously killed by a Neighbor. Chika has a strange gift - she seems to attract Neighbors exorbitantly! Yuma sheds some light on the case, and it turns out that Chika's Trion levels are off the charts! He also explains that Neighbors come to Earth to capture humans because they need to use them as Trion batteries, so there's a chance that Chika's brother is still alive. As Yuma explains everything, another Border team comes to take him out, but they are woefully unsuccessful. Osamu believes that neither Yuma nor Chika will be safe at this rate, so he decides to come clean Border command and demand protection for his friend.
