Lady Medea has spent much of her life preparing for and betrothed to the Imperial Crown Prince Eros, but the prince chooses Lady Psyche instead. On Prayer Day, Medea prays to the god of the kingdom to let her lead instead of the vapid girl the prince has chosen, and the next thing she knows, she wakes up in Psyche's body! Now that her wish has come true, she must manuever herself to not be found out by Eros, but keep Psyche alive in her old body, as she doesn't know if the swap is permanent. She enlists the help of her trusted ally to watch over Psyche and train her to become the perfect Lady Medea while she learns some shocking secrets of Psyche's upbringing and the relationship she has with Eros.
Most of my problems with this volume had to do with the formatting, but there were some issues with storytelling that were't the fault of transitioning from WEBTOON. There were a lot of narrative jumps and places where the author hoped the reader would fill in the blanks, where I felt these were areas for expansion or exploration rather than skipping over. After these little holes, most of my problems and confusion lied with the format. The WEBTOON is rated very highly with lots of fans gushing about the storyline, so I did a side-by-side re-reading with the scrollable on my phone. This is one instance of the transition harming the narrative. Some of the cropping of the panels from the scrollable cut portions that were necessary, and in other moments, the panels became so small that details we could clearly see became difficult to discern on the larger page. Placement of sounds was also sometimes distracting and covered key moments instead of being placed to the top or side of panels. Hopefully, the editorial team will make some different choices about how they adapt this comic moving forward.
