In Dream Land, King Dedede rules his subjects in a way he believes is fair and just, but none of his plans account for the chaos that Kirby brings to his daily life. Typhoon preparations leaves Kirby nearly wrecking Dedede’s castle; Dedede’s plan to bring in a stunt double to take Kirby's abuse backfires brilliantly; a version of The Game of Life sucks Dedede, Kirby, and Poppy inside to play out the punishments inside the game. Many more silly antics ensue in this collection of short stories featuring Kirby, King Dedede, and the many subjects of Dedede's Dreamland.

This silly collection of short stories is full of juvenile humor, and it made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. Hikawa's author’s note at the beginning of each chapter gives a bit of context for each story or gives reason why it was included in the volume. Because it’s a collection of short stories, this reads like slice of life and doesn’t have a connected storyline. This makes it a perfect fit for younger audiences who have shorter attention spans or who can’t always read these volumes in order.

The first story of this collection featured a story of Kirby getting very loopy and silly; the implication is that Kirby imbibes something that makes him drunk. The substance isn't named as alcohol in the story (it's called "Loopy Juice"), but to adult readers, it's pretty clear that the substance is alcohol. This is the only story like this in the first volume, and the author's note even includes a slight apology.
