Inori partakes in her first skating competition, and her warmup is disastrous. Her mom comes back to the locker room to ask Coach Tsukasa if they can take the jumps out of her routine since she can’t complete them, and she doesn’t want Inori to fall out of love with skating. This furthers Inori’s resolve to do well during the competition. Inori and others watch Hikaru compete, one of the best child skaters, and Tsukasa realizes something strange is going on with her coaching staff. After the competition ends, Inori and Tsukasa travel to Kyoto to take the Level 1 exam, and Tsukasa gets some advice from another coach that boosts his confidence.
The leader of the Night Kids shows up on Mount Akina and challenges Takumi to a race. After that, a driver named Shingo from the Night Kids shows up and bumps Iketani-sensei in his Silvia that just came back from the shop. Itsuki buys a Levin, thinking it was an Eight Six, but it turns out to be an Eight Five. After initially being ridiculed by the Speed Stars, Takumi convinces his friend that owning a car is amazing, and still manages to get down the mountain in record time. Shingo challenges Takumi to a race, which Takumi accepts in order to preserve Iketani's honor, but Shingo adds a stipulation: the drivers must duck tape their right hand to the steering wheel to keep things more interesting.

Team Z has been fighting hard against Team V and has tied the score up 3-3 even though they're down a member, but suddenly, Nagi decides that he doesn't want to take all of his orders from Mikage, and he starts to become aware of his massive talents, include his unnatural speed. Isagi, at first, can't account of Nagi in his spacial awareness because Nagi becomes very unpredictable, but then Isagi has his own awakening and realizes that Nagi is seeing the best moves, and Isagi can counter him before he makes them. Once the game is over, Team Z is sequestered to strength training and not allowed to touch a soccer ball until the rest of the wings are done with their elimination tournaments, but Ego wastes no time in setting up the next round of trials, and revealing some secrets to how the first round's brackets were set up.

Team Z is fighting against elimination from Blue Lock in an intense match against Team V. They've been betrayed by one of their own, Kuon, who has decided that, as their top scorer, he will go on no matter what, so he'll save his efforts for when it matters more in later fights. Team V also has a superstar who started playing soccer only a few months ago, Seishiro Nagi, who is sort of bored with everything and takes all his cues from another teammate, Reo Mikage. Isagi uses his spacial awareness technique to see when Reo is going to use Nagi's insane speed, which negates both of them as threats on the field. Team Z fights back from a 0-3 score to tie the game at 3-3 and stun both Team V and Kuon, who thought Team Z had no chance in heck without him.  Illustrated by Yusuke Nomura
