Nasa‘s cousin, Ginga, who acts like a yakuza man but he’s really a normal high school student, has his “boys" bring in a feral kitten they found outside their high school. Nasa immediately takes it to the vet to get completely checked out. When the vet asks for his name, Tsukasa offers up "Toast" because the kitten has a lighter square of fur on its back and it’s mostly brown. Once Toast is back home settling in, he starts getting in the way of Nasa getting close to his wife because he's constantly demanding food. Ganga presents Nasa with a wedding present: two tickets to the Land of Dreams, a theme park. The young couple decided to go to the park as a date. Tsukasa has never been and is excited to try everything. They weren’t the only ones who had the idea to come as a date. Nasa's teacher is invited by a colleague who doesn’t know how to confessed his feelings for her.

Yatora Yaguchi is a second-year high school student who hangs out with the “delinquents,” but he works really hard to get good grades despite his appearance. Everyone in Yatora's class is starting to figure out what college and profession they want to go into, but Yatora isn’t sure what he wants to do once he graduates. None of his hard work makes him feel alive, and he has no particular passions or hobbies. After seeing a beautiful painting in his art class, he decides to actually put some effort into his art assignment to paint “your favorite scene”. He finds immense satisfaction in painting and the praise he receives even though he didn’t finish it. He starts to earnestly learn art in the hopes of making it into Tokyo University of the Arts, a highly competitive, but only public, university dedicated to Art.
Takane is still dealing with his fall from grace, and Hana is determined to prove that she was never interested in him because of his money. Much to Takane's dismay, Hana continues to come over to his apartment, brings food, and cooks for him, "nursing" him back to "health" in a way. He's so sour about losing everything and having to work from the bottom that he won't even verbally spar with Hana, so how is she supposed to keep up her side of their arrangement? Slowly, Takane gets more confidence at work, along with an underling, and things start to look up for him. He learns about a sales commission available to him, so he starts working extra hard at his entry-level job. Eventually, he gets back to teasing Hana, but not before she's realized something about herself that could change their agreement!
Ryū knows he’s a boy, but fate put him in a female body. He hates wearing his uniform at school and only really feels comfortable in his own clothes. Ryū lets out some of his frustration with street art - tagging around his neighborhood. Jin transfers into Ryū ‘s class after being absent from school so long that he’s held back a year. Jin and Ryū become friends when they both reach for the same shirt at a store. Jin is convinced that their similar taste in fashion would be critical in opening a “brand” dedicated to selling clothes. Jin offers to run all of the business side of things, like setting up the website and working on marketing, but Ryū and his art skills is responsible for designing the shirts. The two also pull in a third student, who has a passion for photography, to take photos of Jin modeling their designs to use in marketing.

Hori is a popular girl in school who does well and always has her hair and makeup done pretily. Miyamura is solitary type, sometimes assumed to be a hardcore anime fan, who gets great grades but doesn't really have many friends. When a tattooed, pierced young man shows up at Hori's home while she's in her house clothes with no makeup, she has no idea she's actually chatting with her classmate Miyamura! Both bond over their "other" sides that they don't want anyone at school to see, but they can be completely at ease with each other outside of school. Miyamura starts to help babysit her younger brother while Hori takes care of the house for her busy parents, and she becomes protective of their time, and honesty, with each other.
Sora and Tsuga are taken in by an old man in Tokyo, and he teaches them how to make the perfect croquette, then demands they work for their "room" he's giving them. The man believes Sora to be his long-lost grandson. At first, they think he’s crazy and senile, but he turns out to have a reason for taking them in. Yuushin has no place to let his anger explode now that Sora has left, so he takes some of it out on Asari, but also starts boxing again and is determined to take the pro licensing test. The test is in Tokyo, and fate brings the three friends together again, but the only one happy to see Yuushin is Tsuga.
Nasa and Tsukasa still live in the bath house after the destruction to their apartment, so Tsukasa decides she needs to help out with chores around the bath to repay them for their kindness. Tsukasa and Kaname end up getting pretty close and exchanging nicknames. Older sister Aya still hasn’t given her approval to Tsukasa, especially considering she has had a long-standing crush on Nasa, but Tsukasa starts to win her over with her delicious home-cooked meals. It also turns out that both are highly competitive video-gamers, and they challenge each other to many bouts of a new fighting game and a classic shooting game. Later, Nasa tries to plan a date for the two of them, including a stroll in a park where he hopes to hold Tsukasa’s hand and exchange some smooches.
Futaba and Taichi discuss their future plans, specifically what colleges they'd like to attend. Futaba confesses that she would like to do something with flowers, but also knows she's currently not very skilled with growing things. She tells Taichi that she would like it if they could go to college together, but this life-altering decision isn't often one to make based off of a relationship. Masumi runs in to Toma's sister-in-law, Akiko, and the two have a very meaningful conversation about happiness and being accepted by other people. Masumi admits to being a lesbian, and asks if Akiko would be able to accept such a confession from her on child, or even Toma. At the end of the school's festival day, Mami Yagihara convinces Toma to let her do his makeup, in a totally manly way of course. Mami confesses her love for Toma, but says she wants to be friends and not let her feelings spoil their ability to hang out. Toma tells Mami who he's in love with, but there's an eavesdropper who makes sure Toma's confession isn't private.
Nasa and Tsukasa finish their visit to Nasa’s parents and come back to find their house has burned down! But don’t fret, Nasa has prepared for everything with insurance, keeping his prized possessions in a safe deposit box, and storing all his documents on the cloud. They stay in a spare room owned by the family who runs the bath house, but they also need to go shopping for all new clothes. Nasa has some fun picking out outfits for Tsukasa, but things get a little awkward when she has to get new underthings. The two set up their temporary home with some old relics from the family's departed father, which include classic video games, old TVs, and some interesting furniture pieces.
Nasa wants to move into a bigger apartment so that he and Tsukasa can sleep in one large bed instead of their current arrangement - him in the bed and she on the floor next to him. In order to get a bigger apartment, they'll need a guarantor - which means Nasa is going to have to tell his parents he got married, something he's neglected to do yet. Nasa's parents insist on meeting his wife before they do anything, so the couple must travel from Tokyo to Nara. They stop over in Kyoto to do some sightseeing. Along the way, the couple realizes that Chitose, Tsukasa's "sister" is following them and trying to sabotage and/or understand why they got married in the first place. Chitose steals Nasa and demands he take her around Kyoto as if they were dating in order for her to see why Tsukasa fell in love with him.
