Illustrated by Tsukasa Abe

Frieren and her apprentice, Fern, set off to travel to the Demon King's castle in the northernmost part of the kingdom. Frieren’s dwarf friend from her first adventure tells her she should recruit his apprentice, a warrior named Stark who ran out on him in cowardice. Stark is waiting around in a village to the North where he stopped a dragon from destroying the village. Stark is a really strong warrior, but he is extremely afraid of fighting, and he lacks any sort of confidence in his skills. In another city on their journey, Frieren runs into a peace envoy of demons and tries to attack them, saying that demons only know human language in order to dupe them. She is put in prison for the attack, but the peace envoy soon breaks down. Frieren leaves Fern and Stark to take care of the demons in the city, while she goes after a much stronger aura: one of the Sages of Destruction, and an incredibly powerful demon ready to lay siege to the city.

Frieren is an elven mage, and she plans on traveling the world to gather as much magic as she can. Himmel, the human hero, settles down in the capital city and grows old. Fifty years go by and Frieren returns to take her friends to a secluded place to enjoy the meteor shower. Afterwards, Frieren visits Heiter, a priest with an unnatural love of alcohol, who tricks Frieren into taking a young girl as her mage apprentice. Fern becomes exceptional at magic, and the two travel around, continuing to gather odd magical spells and helping people in villages. Nasa wants to move into a bigger apartment so that he and Tsukasa can sleep in one large bed instead of their current arrangement - him in the bed and she on the floor next to him.  In order to get a bigger apartment, they'll need a guarantor - which means Nasa is going to have to tell his parents he got married, something he's neglected to do yet.  Nasa's parents insist on meeting his wife before they do anything, so the couple must travel from Tokyo to Nara.  They stop over in Kyoto to do some sightseeing.  Along the way, the couple realizes that Chitose, Tsukasa's "sister" is following them and trying to sabotage and/or understand why they got married in the first place.  Chitose steals Nasa and demands he take her around Kyoto as if they were dating in order for her to see why Tsukasa fell in love with him.
