Illustrated by Joelle Murray
Tabitha has dreamed about work for the magical theme park of Sommerland since she was a little girl, and the summer internship is where she is finally going to make it all reality. At first, Tabi is excited to be assigned at any role in the park just as long as she can contribute to the magic of a family’s stay, but going behind-the-scenes at her favorite place isn’t as wonderful as she had hoped. Her co-workers complain about guests and working conditions; her assignment isn’t exactly what she had hoped for, and the actors playing royalty, the role Tabi aspires to, aren’t as nice out of character. Tabi does manage to find one person, James, who hasn’t let others tarnish his excitement for working at the park, and the two do their best to enjoy the summer.

Vol 2: No Such Thing as Perfect
Emma is the main character this time, and things are not so perfect for the most popular girl in school. Her beautiful older sister gets perfect grades, and her mom is constantly wishing Emma could be more like her. Deep down, Emma wishes her friendship with Nala hadn’t ended the way it did, but the hurt has gone on too long to fix it now. When Lilico and Emma are both selected from the basketball team to play on the county All Star team, Emma thinks she finally has a chance to prove herself and stand above everyone else. But, her hyper competitive nature and inability to express her feelings get her in sticky situations over and over again. Sounds like another job for a guardian spirit!
As captain of the basketball team, Lilico is looking forward to leading her team to finals this year. Then, her parents announce that they’re moving the whole family to New York City. Lilico is devastated and scared to be starting over in a new country with no friends, but hopes to at least join the team at her new school. It turns out, the school bully is the captain of the girls’ team, and she doesn’t care much for the new girl. Lilico is destroyed until the Otaku of her new school find her — Nala and Henry. They instantly love going to Lilico’s house and learning about her dad’s embarrassingly large collection of katana. To round out everything, Lilico finds herself with a guardian spirit who borrows the body of her family cat, making everything closer to an episode of Sailor Moon! Nicco promises to help Lilico’s transition to America be a bit smoother, including getting on the basketball team and finding her footing with Emma, her bully.
