After nearly dying from a car crash, high schooler George Lucas, who isn't the most studious, decides he’s going to turn his life around and attend college — but to study film. He turns some heads with a captivating science fiction short that earns awards, and he meets the acquaintance of Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola. Fresh out of college, George makes American Graffiti, which the studios don’t understand, but it lands with audiences and it provides him with enough seed money for another film project studios really can’t get behind: a larger-than-life, budget-busting science fiction epic with battle scenes, robots, tons of special effects, space magic, princesses, and laser swords.
