In the small town of Belle River, Canada, bugs known as Fishflies descend upon the residents for once a week every year. But once a generation, a different plague besets them. What started as a simple dare lands one young boy in the hospital and begins a manhunt that entangles the boy’s classmate, Franny. The young girl takes pity on the fugitive and makes a friend in the process. The townsfolk, Franny, and her new friend embark on something much more supernatural and rooted deep in the town's history, and many of the discover something much more than they bargained for.

Pyontaro is trying to live his teenage life away from his annoying little sister, Futaba, but she’s constantly intruding in the most inopportune times. He and his two friends attend classes where they learn about the multiverse theory and daydream about girls. One day, they take home a strange disk from one of their teachers that opens a portal to another world, a bizarre multiverse where Futaba is captured by aliens! Pyontaro and his two friends go in after her, and they seem to have special abilities and super strength.
Sasaki is a stressed out office worker who finds comfort in the smile and work-ethic of Miss Yamada, a cashier at his local supermarket. He often buys snacks and other items even if he doesn’t need them just so he can catch a glimpse of her radiant smile. One day, he exits the store and looks for a place to light up his other stress relief and finds there are no smoking sections. A store employee beckons him to join her behind the store in a smoking area reserved for employees. Here, he strikes up a friendship with Miss Tayama, who seems to know a lot about him and his shopping preferences. Sasaki is clueless to the fact that he may already know Tayama and she’s teasing him by leading a double life.

Kano was the top of his class until transfer student Sawatari got there. Now, he’s bested by her on all tests no matter how much he studies. But he finds release from his frustrations in playing his favorite card game - Magic: The Gathering. He takes a trip to a new card shop an hour by bike and discovers a group of hardcore players, including a girl playing a killer mono White deck. He challenges her with his mono Black, White’s antithesis, and is dismayed when he not only loses, but finds out his opponent is Sawatari! 
In a dystopian-esque world full of deadly assassins and criminals, Shizuka is a seemingly pleasant young girl trying to get by and survive. Few know that she is the contact for one of the most fearsome assassins - her brother Nagi, who has been left paralyzed and comatose after a bullet became lodged in his brain during an attack against Shizuka. However, Nagi can sense someone’s murderous intent, even from long distances away, and he springs to action to defend himself or Shizuka and kill whoever is coming after them. Shizuka, in turn, designs increasingly more destructive wheel chairs to compliment Nagi’s needs to fit the jobs they’ve been hired to complete.
Ken Kanashiro, a fierce yakuza second-in-command, has his life turned upside down when he's introduced to a K-Pop band by Megumi, the boss’s daughter. He becomes transfixed by one of the band’s members and launches into super fandom with the help of Megumi. Ken begins collecting rare merchandise, joins social media to post elaborate fanfic and amasses a following, attends many concerts, and finds other yakuza super fans.
