A mysterious innkeeper will let lost souls stay in his inn for a price that isn’t money: he feeds on secrets. When a young man is being chased by a monster in a cage, he finds refuge in the Inn, but has no secrets to give. The Master uses his power to create a situation where he will know the young man’s secret, and it gives them both new life. The Innkeeper also has several creatures in his service, including Butterfly, who can take the shape of a man, but also burst into hundreds of butterflies. Butterfly often "gets into trouble" in his human form, particularly with young ladies who often fall for him.

Colonel Shikishima is used as the latest scapegoat to explain why the Sol rocket was used and parts of the city destroyed, and he loses his command. Despite the disgrace, the soldiers are still severely loyal to him, and he employs his forces to help recover Akira before the boy fully awakens. Kei and Kaneda try to bring Akira to a safe place, but they find themselves being betrayed by someone they thought an ally. The Colonel uses the three super-powered children to track Akira, while Lady Miyako deploys three of her own children to bring Akira to her. All of these opposing parties chase each other through the streets of Neo-Tokyo during a city-wide lockdown, which means the protector robots are also after them all for breaking curfew.

Three of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been reincarnated as children in a nation that very slightly resembles the United States in a bizarre future. One of the Horsemen is nowhere to be seen, and the other three set off to find and kill him. We move to another scene where a man, dressed in an all white Wild West outfit, extorts information from a barkeep in exchange for the man’s life. What our mysterious man in white receives is a list of "The Chosen", the seven people who can bring about the End of the World based on the teachings of "The Message". The man in white is Death, and he’d very much like for the world not to end. 
In a pet store in Japan, many of the young, adorable kittens are quickly adopted, leaving behind the lovable, fluffy, slightly older cat, whose sad eyes beg for a new owner to come adopt him. Kanda, a recent widower, adopts the big guy and provides a loving home for him. Kanda names him Fukumaru, a combination of the words for "luck" and "happiness" in Japanese. Fukumaru is so grateful that he has been adopted that he tries to go into every room with Kanda, which is normally fine until Fukumaru tries to go in the shower with him. He realizes the hard way that there are some places they cannot be together.
Stella wakes up from a beautiful dream, and finds herself in a strange bedroom in a luxurious manor. Watching over her is Levi, a dashingly handsome young man, who explains her carriage crashed and he saved her, but the driver met his unfortunate demise. Stella was on the way to be a live-in maid at another manor, so she pleads with Levi to employ her as a maid, and he accepts. He introduces Stella to the other residents, one whom attacks her. Stella starts to notice strange things about the manor’s residents, and she’s disturbed that they won’t let her leave to go to the village. Despite their strangeness, Stella finds herself falling for Levi, and the two grow extremely close. When her attacker breaks loose and starts being vicious again, the residents must let Stella in on their secret: they are vampires, and they must do something terrible to keep themselves sane and non-violent.
Noel and Ninny are witches and part of the Piper segment of the Wing Bind, a group of witches and wizards who are tasked with keeping dragons away from ordinary humans. Dragons are harmful to humans because humans have no magical abilities. Wing Bind, and most of the witches’ tasks, are in Reverse London, the opposite of Front London, where magic is much stronger and dragons more prevalent. One of the cases the witches get called for involves Noel’s admirer, Balgo. Balgo’s best friend turns into a dark dragon, which exist only to hurt people and destroy things. Being so close to a dragon for so long means Balgo has absorbed lots of dragon magic, and now he has to be watched by Noel and Ninny constantly. The three of them continue to take on cases involving dragons getting too close to humans, including one involving a girl Ninny knows, and an extremely powerful dragon that either influenced or was named from fairy tales.
Denji and his little devil dog, Pochita (who has a chainsaw coming out of his head), are swimming in a mountain of debt left by Denji’s dad. The two hunt devils to try and pay down the debt, but things go wrong for Denji on one such mission. Pochita saves Denji’s life by fusing with him, giving Denji the power to summon chainsaws from his head and arms! Now, the Public Safety Devil Hunters wants to employ this new, powerful Human-Devil hybrid, and Denji finds himself finally living a little comfortably. But, what now motivates him to keep the public safe? Is it money? Revenge? Boobs?

Sophie is a nervous dog who classically can’t remember much after it happens to her. She’s introduced to a group of dogs in a new house, and they terrify her. The nicest of the bunch, Rusty, recognizes her fears and protects Sophie. He gives her a tour of the home, including the room they’re not allowed to go into. Snippets of traumatic memories start coming back to Sophie, prompting other dogs to also remember some of their pasts, with owners who were not their current master, who all happen to be female and usually alone. Through this, the dogs discover their happy home with plenty of food and treats is not a safe place to be, for animals or humans. 
Machi is a 14-year-old priestess of a shrine in the mountains of Japan. This little village is special because of their relationship to these talking bears. Machi is the companion to Natsu, a talking bear, and Machi is sort of responsible with keeping the relationship between the bears and the villagers a positive one. Machi wants to go to high school in the city, but Natsu thinks she’s too naive to survive in the city, worried that she will be taken advantage of because of her simple country ways.
