Noblewoman Satoko wants to bring honor to her family, especially her father, before her fatal heart condition destroys her. The best way she can do that is to enter into a prosperous marriage. But, before her arrangements can be finalized, she is kidnapped and threatened most heinously by her captors. A crazed assassin threatens to kill any man who lays hand on her, so Satoko barters with the only valuable thing she has -- her family name. She promises to marry the assassin if he delivers her from the clutches of her captors and pretends to be madly in love with the deranged man. Both seem determined to call the other on the bluff -- one in order to kill, the other in order to survive.
Ken Kaneki is a reserved, bookish college student with a sweet crush on a fellow customer in a coffee shop. When he finally gets up the courage to ask her out on a date, things go well until she reveals she’s a ghoul, hungry for Kaneki. But her attack goes awry, leaving both in critical condition. The doctors decide to use her organs to save Kaneki’s life, but in doing so, they damn him to a half human, half ghoul existence, constantly hungry for human flesh and unable to consume any of the foods that once brought him joy. Kaneki tries to slip back into his human life, but his unceasing hunger threatens to expose him.
In continuing to figure out their feelings and sort through their gender discovery, Hinase and best friend Shiori have a bit of a falling out after Shiori feels at fault for Hinase getting injured. Shiori decides to take a backseat and let other best friend Rita take lead, even if that means sacrificing his own feelings and having the end result of Hinase ultimately becoming male. Hinase and Ritsu walk home after Ritsu’s tennis practice, but holding Ritsu’s hand makes Hinase sweat and fill with dread just as much as holding Shiori’s hand. Hinase cannot deal with all of the chemical cocktail of anxiety and attraction welling up inside them!
Illustrated by Itoe Takemoto
Kaina and Ririha begin their descent on the tree spire to the snow sea below, which takes many days of treacherous climbing. Down below on the sea, the two warring parties, Ririha’s men and the enemy ships, still search for signs of life for the missing princess. As soon as Kaina and Ririha touchdown, they find themselves in the middle of a battle between hostile soldiers fighting to take or save Ririha.
