Pluto vol 2 by Naoko Urasawa and Takahashi Nagasaki
Based on Astro Boy by Osamu Tezuka

Geischt chats with one of the other seven deadliest robots, a young boy robot name Atom. Geischt is there to warn him about the deadly attacks and murders, but Atom thinks he can help the investigation. He asks Geischt for his memory chip and becomes entangled in the investigation of the murder of Dr. Junichiro Tasaki, a professor of law who was instrumental in writing and passing the Robot Laws. Atom discovers that, in his final moments, Dr. Tasaki was trying to contact Professor Ochanomizu, a man who was on the Survey team into Persia with Dr. Tasaki before the war broke out. The group was tasked with finding the deadly Persian robot army, but found nothing, and its remaining members also seem to be targets as well as the deadly robots.

Illustrated by George Schall

A company in Korea specializes in creating “proxies”, life-like robots that have taken the place of some human children for families where conceiving has been difficult. A programmer, in his spare time, has possibly unlocked a key of artificial intelligence. He experiments with one unit and sends it out into the world. As she is later named, Jesse is sent to a family in Texas, where she starts to devour every book in the house, and quickly move on to the library where her mom works. She decides she wants to try going to school and being a “normal” child. Jesse’s innocence quickly gets her swept up with the wrong kids, and she finds herself an accessory to a school shooting. The programmer comes back to reclaim Jesse and raise her as his own daughter, but back in Korea, Jesse struggles with her identity and wanting to not be a girl child. Some short stories are also included that are supposed to bring more to the world of proxies

Fullmetal Edition vol 15 by Hiromu Arakawa. This is a wonderful headshot of Hohenheim staring directly at us with a small, satisfied grin on his face.
It's time to take the fight to the homunculi instead of waiting for them to make their endgame move. Al and Hohenheim trap Pride in a prison made of earth, so there's no light and no shadows for Pride to use as his weapons. Mustang and his forces make their move now that Bradley has been neutralized, and it starts with an assault where there are absolutely no casualties. Some old friends reunite with the Colonel to provide support and supplies. The Armstrongs are also reunited as Major General Armstrong has sussed out as much as she can of the enemy's plan. Ed and Scar join forces to try and take down Father, but Hohenheim has some different plans up his sleeve that involve him facing his old friend face-to-face for the first time in hundreds of years.

Perfect World vol 1 by Rie Aruga. Kawana sits in a chair in a summery pink dress. Ayukawa is next to her in his wheelchair in grey pants and a button down shirt that's open to a grey shirt underneath it.
Kawana is 26 and a budding interior designer whose company just partnered with an architectural firm. At a company mixer with the two groups, Kawana runs into her high school crush, Ayukawa. It isn’t until the end of the meal that Kawana discovers Ayukawa was in a severe crash and is now wheelchair-bound. She’s not sure if she could be in a relationship with a disabled person, but after hanging out more and catching up, Kawana’s old feelings start to bubble up. She cares deeply when Ayukawa has to go to the hospital for one of the many complications spinal-cord-injury patients have, and she gets upset with his defeatist attitude that he won’t live long anyway. He continuously pushes her away and tells her not to fall in love with him because of his many complications and potentially shortened lifespan, but Kawana's heart explains away all of those difficulties and falls for him anyway.

Cover of The National Parks. On the top half, an explorer is looking out over something that looks like the Grand Canyon. On the bottom, an old-style car drives through a tree in a Giant Sequoia grove.
History Comics: The National Parks: Preserving America's Wild Places

Follow Bigfoot and Eagle through an historical look at the founding of America's National Parks. Bigfoot embodies the spirit of National Parks and explains to Eagle, the embodiment of the American People, how they all came to be. We start off with Yosemite and Yellowstone, and take a look at what acts of Congress and presidential actions made pieces of the country into National Parks. We also take a look at the founding of Park Rangers, and what their role was in preserving the parks from human disruption. As the idea of parks changed, activists were able to argue that land of historical significance, not just natural beauty, could become a National Park, as is the case with Mesa Verde National Park.

Deadpool samurai vol 1 by sanshiro kasama

Cover of Deadpool Samurai. Deadpool's mask is made up of lots of tinier illustrations of cities and him movign throughout. They are colored in a way that the montage looks like the two black patches over his eyes and the red mask around it.
Illustrated by Hikaru Uesugi

Deadpool takes a trip to Japan and becomes deputized by Captain America to protect Japan from the evil-doers there. Immediately, we get a Spider-Man stand-in, Sakura Spider, and later, another Venom-type symbiote who achieved stasis with a super popular Idol named Neiro. Neiro affectionally calls her symbiote Kage (Japanese for Shadow), but he seems to not want nicknames nor to get attached to anyone. Through plenty of fourth-wall breaks and lots of references to other manga and anime series, Deadpool and his two compatriots try to thwart the plans of the supervillain Loki.

Mao vol 3 by Rumiko Takahashi. Mao looks menacingly over his shoulder.
Mao and Byoki's disembodied head square off in a battle that has been building for the last several volumes. Mao unleashes his other form, which looks very much like it could be Byoki's missing body. During the fight, Nanoka's younger self comes through the gate into the battle, and present day Nanoka begins to remember some of the flashes that traumatized her that day. Byoki realizes Nanoka could also be a vessel for his power, so he runs after her as she retreats back through the gate to her time. Mao releases an ayakashi and sends it after little Nanoka to protect her. Present day Nanoka returns to her time to sort out who the ayakashi is, and to determine who Byoki is in her life. Mao, meanwhile, must begin to sort out what happened to him hundreds of years ago when Byoki attacked, which is complicated by him discovering several other apprentices from hundreds of years ago are still alive when they should all be long dead.

Akira vol 5 by katsuhiro otomo

Cover of Akira vol 4 by Katsuhiro Otomo. Tetsuo emerges from machinery, covered in cords and machine bits, and almost looks like he is an extension of the machine itself.
Off the coast of Japan, a Japanese air carrier plays home base for some of the world’s best scientists. They’ve come together to analyze the data of the cataclysmic events happening in Japan, and to provide possible solutions and military tactics against it. Before they can get too far, Tetsuo susses out their location and pays them a visit, destroying their lab in the process. Between that and blowing a hole in the moon as a show of force to their waining subjects, Tetsuo is in danger of losing himself entirely to the psychic powers and becoming a shell of power as Akira has become. Lady Miyako is convinced she can combine forces with the remaining children to channel their power through Kei and take down Tetsuo before his spiral is complete. Kaneda, deep down, cares for Kei, so he sets off with his own band of former bikers to take down Tetsuo before more people get hurt.
